The Guvernment is the name of a nightclub complex in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Opened in 1996, it was incarnated from the former RPM nightclub, which closed its doors after several years at the same location.

Saturdays (a.k.a. Spin Saturdays) at the Guvernment have electronic dance music, featuring resident DJ Mark Oliver and has been host to many notable musicians and groups such as Above & Beyond, Armin Van Buuren, David Guetta, Ferry Corsten, Marco V, Markus Schulz, Deadmau5, Sasha, Paul Oakenfold, DJ Abdul & Carl Cox.

Deep Dish also created a Global Underground compilation, based on their performance at The Guvernment.

In 2009, Markus Schulz released a compilation album, called Toronto 09, which reflected on his affection towards the city of Toronto and, in particular, the Guvernment complex.[1]

The Kool Haus is often used as a venue for concerts and live performances.

Recent events have included Gov't Mule, Switchfoot, Paper Route, Nine Inch Nails, Bob Dylan, Lady Gaga, Paramore, Nas, Pink, Katy Perry, Rancid, NOFX, The Prodigy, The Black Eyed Peas, Wolfmother, Kings of Leon, Ke$ha, Joss Stone and Slash, among others (like Fatboy Slim, when the club started as The Warehouse).

In 2008, The Guvernment was voted #8 nightclub in the world in DJMag's Top 100 Clubs of 2008.[2]

Guvernment Complex

The Guvernment Complex is made up of nine rooms that can play a variety of different music on a given night, with a total capacity of 10,000 people. The Main Room is approximately 22,000 sq ft (2,000 m2). and has a capacity of 1600 people.

The Kool Haus (formerly the Warehouse) is approximately 27,000 sq ft (2,500 m2). and has a capacity of approximately 2,500 people.

The Drink, D'Luxe Lounge, The Orange Room, Tanja, Skybar, Patio and the Gallery are smaller rooms with a capacity ranging from 100-300 people each.

Types of events

Although the complex is known to the concert industry for the Kool Haus concert room and the club industry for the Guvernment club rooms, the complex is known for hosting many corporate events, event nights for the annual Toronto fashion shows and more.
